SPRING!!!!

It is here, and winter must stop. I know here in the Northwest we’ve been experiencing snow very close to this newly arrived (and supposedly “warmer”) season, but we no longer have the right to have mindset of winter- depressed, unmotivated, and too cold to go outside. Yes, we’re working hard, and yes, we’re in Seattle so we don’t quit in the rain and sleet and snow, by George! But, admit it, it’s difficult to thrive in the winter. To enjoy in the winter.

However, winter is gone.

We can thrive!!

I have some helpful suggestions (challenges) for getting out of winter and into spring!! They’ve been helping me. 😉

  1. Go Outside. Take walks! Be free! Just because you can’t see spring doesn’t mean you won’t see beauty and feel refreshed!
  2. Memorize. Sharpen your brain! Whether it’s Bible verses, Shakespeare, or all the spices in your cupboard, you’ll think more clearly and your brain clouds will begin to part as the rain clouds do as well!
  3. Be Healthy. You’re not storing for winter anymore. No more candy. No more bread-for-three-meals-a-day. It’s time for chicken salad and smiiiiiiiles. 🙂

So start your spring well, and begin to experience and enjoy.

Take a walk with me…

Into the woods…

 passing a cottonwood…

and the old maple, of course….

finding him along the way…. 😉

reaching towards evening…

And ending the day in color!

Hope you enjoyed the day!

Tonight

Aqua flames light dreams of farther spaces

Surrounding forests black in Night’s eyes.

The taste of licorice in my mouth.

Stars above can move.

But never the trees.

I watch them.

Look

Taste

Observe

Sketch and More Portrait!!

Here is a little sunday morning sketch I did for a friend in church a few weeks ago- I’ll be adding more sketches 😉  A good sermon is the perfect time for someone to sit still long enough for me to do a a better-than-quick little portrait. It does look somewhat like him, so I call it a good day.

And now for the continued painting- Here I adjusted the darks a little. Still just getting that first layer down.

NOW for big changes!! Hair Color. Skin Tones. Background. Clothing. This was about two or four hours of big decisions- some that I’m not SO crazy about, however, it’s a process, and with paint, nothing is final.

It’s steady process. Foraging onward. Who knows what’s next!
